Construction Begins on Final Phase of Bonaparte Castle Renovation

Salisbury, NC – January 6, 2025 – October Ninth Investments LLC, in partnership with Bonaparte Castle Events Inc., is pleased to announce the start of the final phase of construction on the historic Napoleon Bonaparte McCanless House, known as Bonaparte Castle. This milestone follows the successful completion of the last funding phase, facilitated by Mark Lewis at People’s Bank, whose exceptional efforts were instrumental in achieving this goal. Construction begins tomorrow, January 7, 2025.

The final phase focuses on the comprehensive renovation of the main house, the centerpiece of this 1897 Second Empire-style landmark. Once completed, Bonaparte Castle will serve as a premier venue for events and a boutique hospitality destination, blending historical elegance with modern amenities.

About the Napoleon Bonaparte McCanless House

Located at 619 South Main Street in Salisbury, NC, the Napoleon Bonaparte McCanless House is a three-story granite mansion renowned for its steep mansard roof with decorative slate shingles, its wraparound porch supported by rusticated granite posts, and its intricate woodwork. Built in 1897, the house has stood as a testament to architectural grandeur and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Final Phase Renovations

This phase of construction will restore the main house to its original splendor while introducing state-of-the-art updates to meet modern standards. Key elements include:

  • Preservation of Historical Features: Careful restoration of the granite façade, original fireplaces, and intricate wood details.
  • Modern Infrastructure: Installation of updated HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Event-Ready Enhancements: Creation of indoor and outdoor spaces for weddings, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations.
  • Boutique Hospitality Upgrades: Renovation of eight uniquely designed guest rooms, featuring historic charm and modern amenities.
