The Long-Awaited Grand Opening of The Bonaparte Castle
Rowan County Chamber of
Commerce, Mayor Karen Alexander, and
Historical Salisbury
Foundation gave a warm welcome to the owners of the Bonaparte Castle as they celebrated
the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Salisbury, NC – November 15, 2022 - Bonaparte Castle Events, Inc., a special events venue, today held their ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate the completion of the tavern, the first of a multi-phased rehabilitation project.
Following more than a year long process of permits, architectural and engineering reviews, and local/state/federal historical agency approvals, the Bonaparte Castle has finally completed its initial phase of renovations to a granite structure originally used as the kitchen to service the main house, now a new event tavern. The space will now become a central focal point of the wedding and events venue but will only be open during special or reserved events. Landscaping improvements are also underway, which presents opportunities for tented and outdoor events on the lawns as early as Fall of 2022.
Booking events at this stage will continue to fund extensive
renovations needed for the main house. The plan includes a phased approach,
slated for completion over the next few years. The next phase proposes to repair
the wrap-around porch of the main house and following that will be the transformation
of the first and second floors bringing new life to the dormant granite home. The
final phases will include lavish spaces for overnight accommodations.
Acquired
in July 2021, the new owners pay tribute to the Bonaparte name with every
wedding and event that will, from this day forward, reinforce the vision to
restore and preserve historical structures and revitalize its surroundings. The
Bonaparte Castle is set to take advantage of a lively mixed-use neighborhood in
historic downtown Salisbury, North Carolina. It sits within proximity to cities
such as Charlotte, Greensboro, Huntersville, Mooresville, among others making
it an attractive option for event venue seekers.
“We
welcome you to Salisbury and we thank you for investing in our city,” commented
Mayor Karen Alexander.
At
present, the venue consists of 1.5 acres of usable space and the
developers envision a tavern and lounge for event services, expansive lawn space
for tented events and outdoor ceremonies including a live music pergola, lavish
gardens, sitting areas with fire pits, and plenty of photo op backdrops. The
recent acquisition of an adjacent property will offer additional space for valet
parking, separate overnight accommodations, additional restroom facilities, and
a corporate office. The Bonaparte Castle is located in the heart of Salisbury, just
a few blocks away from dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Once
complete, the venue will offer individual rooms and special bundle
packages for endless possibilities, such as receptions, conferences, business
functions, bridal, fashion, art shows, and more. Venue rentals are available
beginning November 2022.
“The long-awaited establishment of a new events venue provides
a great opportunity to expand the downtown area to include the Bonaparte
Castle, and beyond. This creates more inclusion within the community and
greater participation for residents in this part of S. Main Street. We are very
proud to open this facility where people can gather and create lasting memories
with friends, family, and business associates,” said owner Sandra Toscano “The
grand opening is timely and is indicative of the progress being made in the aftermath
of the pandemic. Bringing the Bonaparte back to life is a commitment to history
and a responsibility to preserving this very important landmark.”
Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, City
of Salisbury Mayor Karen Alexander and Council Members, Historical Salisbury
Foundation, neighbors, friends, and family, celebrated the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
for Bonaparte Castle after extensive renovations and completion of the first step
in the multi-phased plan.
“We could not be more excited to
open the Tavern at Bonaparte Castle with a transformational make-over for our
wedding and corporate guests,” says owner C.P Edgar. “We’ve set out to redefine
what it means to have a wedding in the heart of Salisbury, a city striving for
growth and development. We have aimed to capture the essence of a French Second
Empire architecture, without compromising on our vision of sophistication at an
affordable price. We know it still looks like we have a long way to go, and
frankly we do, but we are super excited about the progress so far and can’t
wait to show everyone each phase as we complete them.”
